We operate a contactless check-in and check-out. You can self check-in at any time from 3 pm on the day of arrival. Check-out is at 10 am on the day of departure. We will email you directions to your tepee as part of your booking confirmation. We aim to confirm bookings within 24 hours.
We are located a short 5 minute drive from Matakana and less than 10 minutes from Omaha beach. Our tepee glamping tents are a two minute walk from our private home. There is no direct vehicle access to the tepees. However, off-street parking is available within a two minute walk to the tepees. The gravel walking track is steep in places. We recommend you pack light and wear appropriate foot wear. You are welcome to use our luggage trolley to transport your luggage to a from the glamping tents.
Traffic can be heard from nearby Leigh Road. However, traffic during night time is very minimal.
There are no cooking or kitchen facilities at Tepee, but several great dining and takeaway options close-by. We will email you a list of dining recommendations as part of your booking confirmation. You will find a picnic table in our outdoor lounge, where you can eat your takeaways.
To avoid attracting insects please clean up after your meal and keep your food in sealed containers. Please do not bring a BBQ or gas stove, and please do not consume meals, other than snack food, on the beds.
Our tepees are off-grid. The bathrooms lights and lights along the pathways are solar powered and the fairy lights inside the tepees are battery powered. We provide a torch and power bank to charge your devices.
We do not provide WIFI but are in cellphone reception.
There is no source of heating inside the tents. We provide warm bedding, but if you get cold easily we recommend to bring an extra blanket. During our shoulder season (October/ November and April/May) we provide electric blankets to provide extra warmth during the night.
Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the glamping tepees. If you are a smoker, please ask us for an ashtray.
Please be aware that during the summer months a fire ban is in place as vegetation is very dry.
Our tepees are located on the same property than our family home. We would like to ask you to be mindful of our family, neighbours and other guests. Our quiet hours start from 10 pm. We do not allow parties or gatherings at Tepee.
No unregistered visitors or guests are allowed on our property at any time.
We can accommodate a max. of 6 people in 3 tents. If you would like to book several tents for your group please get in touch with us directly. (Please note that the search bar on our booking page only works for a max. of 2 guests).
Our tepees are designed to sleep a max. of 2 guests per tent. If not otherwise arranged, we do not allow children under the age of 6 at Tepee.
Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian whilst using our playground, which is not suitable for small children. We do not take any responsibility for any injuries and the use of the playground is at the parent's risk.
We love animals and have a cat and friendly dog. At this stage, we do not allow guests to bring their own pets as we have livestock grazing on our property. If you are scared of dogs please let us know and we will make sure our dog stays inside.
Please do not leave your valuables inside your tepee if you are not around. Even though we consider our place to be safe, we do not take responsibility for your valuables.
SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS
We reserve the right to cancel your booking on short notice if we decide that weather conditions are not suitable to stay in our tepees. Our glamping tents are waterproofed but they might leak in very heavy, prolonged rain. We will be in touch with you should we need to postpone/ cancel your booking.
We recommend you bring warm clothes, good walking shoes, torch and insect repellent. You might also want to bring an an extra blanket and during the shoulder seasons or if you get cold easily. Please bring a rain coat or umbrella if it is forecasted to rain.
Lost property is kept for 7 days before we dispose of it.
We take no responsibility for any loss, theft, damage or personal injury that occurs during your stay.
cancellation & amendment policies
No bookings are guaranteed until full payment is received. We will email you our bank account details alongside your booking confirmation. We aim to confirm bookings within 24 hours.
All prices are subject to change without notice prior to receipt of full balance payment.
Amendments will incur a non-refundable $25 fee per amendment.
Please give us at least 7 days notice, should you need to cancel your reservation.
If a booking is cancelled 8 or more days prior to arrival an administration fee of $25 is charged.
If your booking is cancelled 1-7 days prior to arrival no refund will be given.
