Check-In & Check-Out

You can self check-in anytime after 3 PM, and check-out is by 10 AM on your departure day. We’ll email you a detailed arrival guide (usually within 24 hours) to make your arrival smooth and easy.

Location & Access

Our retreat is nestled just 5 minutes from Matakana and under 10 minutes from Omaha Beach. Our three tepees are set on our private property, where we live onsite. You may see other guests unless you book all three tepees for your group. Bathrooms and the outdoor lounge are shared. 

Parking is off-street and a short 2-minute walk from the tents along a gravel path. It’s a little steep in places, so we recommend packing lightly and wearing good walking shoes. A luggage trolley is available to help with bags. You might hear light traffic from nearby Leigh Road, though it’s usually quiet at night.

Cooking & Food

For everyone’s safety, personal BBQs and gas stoves aren’t allowed. Starting September 2025, we’ve added a hot water station in the outdoor lounge for making tea, coffee, or other hot drinks. We’ll also share our favorite local cafes, restaurants, and takeaways in your booking confirmation. Feel free to enjoy your meals in our picnic area—just use a chilly bin or sealed containers and tidy up afterward to help keep the space welcoming (and insect-free).

Power & Connectivity

Our tepees are  off-grid, with solar-lit paths and fairy lights inside for a bit of evening charm. You’ll find a torch and power bank in each tepee to keep your devices charged. There’s no Wi-Fi, but mobile reception is reliable.

Heating & Bedding

You’ll find cozy, quality bedding and duvets provided, and electric blankets are available during the cooler months. If you tend to feel the chill, extra layers are always a good idea.

Groups & Children

Each tepee comfortably hosts up to two guests, making it ideal for couples. Families and groups are welcome to book all three tepees—just get in touch with us beforehand so we can help coordinate.

Pets

We have a friendly dog and cat on the property, and we may be happy to welcome one dog per stay (on a case-by-case basis). Please contact us before booking so we can share our pet policy and make sure it’s a great fit.

Quiet Hours & Visitors

To keep things peaceful, we ask that guests observe quiet hours from 10 PM. We also limit access to registered guests only—this helps everyone feel safe and respected.

Smoking & Fire Safety

Smoking and vaping aren’t allowed inside the tepees—but outdoor ashtrays are available on request. Please be aware that during summer months, fire bans may be in place to protect our dry natural environment.

Severe Weather

Our tepees are designed to stay dry, yet very heavy rain can occasionally cause leaks. In rare cases of severe weather, we may need to postpone or cancel bookings. If that happens, we’ll reach out to you promptly to discuss the situation.

What to Bring

Here are a few things to consider packing:

 

• Warm layers (even in summer evenings)

• Sturdy shoes for walking the gravel path

• A flashlight or headlamp

• Insect repellent

• A raincoat or umbrella if showers are forecast

• An extra blanket if you tend to feel cold

Valuables & Lost Property

It’s best not to leave valuables in your tepee when you’re away. We strive to keep everything safe, but can’t take responsibility for lost or stolen items. Any lost items will be held for up to 7 days before being donated or disposed of.

Liability

While we aim for a perfect stay, please note that we can’t be held responsible for loss, damage, or personal injury that may occur during your visit.
