​What to Know Before You Book Your Tepee Matakana Glamping Stay

Check-In & Check-Out

Self check-in is available anytime after 3 PM, and check-out is by 10 AM.

You’ll receive a detailed arrival guide, usually within 24 hours of booking, with everything you need for an easy arrival.

 

Location & Access

We’re just 5 minutes from Matakana Village and under 10 minutes from Omaha Beach.

Our three tepees sit privately on our property, where we live onsite.

Bathrooms and the outdoor lounge are shared between guests.

Parking is off-street, a short 2-minute walk along a steep gravel path. A luggage trolley is available to help with your bags.

You may hear some traffic from Leigh Road during the day, although it is usually quiet at night.

Cooking & Food Options

A breakfast station is set up in the outdoor lounge with tea, coffee and other hot drinks.

We’ll share some of our favourite local cafés, restaurants and takeaways in your arrival guide.

You’re welcome to dine in the picnic area. Please use sealed containers and tidy up afterwards to keep the space clean for everyone.

For safety reasons, personal BBQs aren’t permitted.

Power, Lighting & Connectivity

Our tepees are off-grid, with fairy lights inside and solar-lit paths outside.

Each tepee includes a torch and power bank for charging devices.

There’s no Wi-Fi, but mobile reception is reliable.

Heating, Bedding & Comfort

Every tepee includes quality bedding, a duvet, soft pillows, and cotton linen and towels.

Electric blankets are available during the cooler months.

If you tend to feel the cold, we recommend bringing a few extra layers.

 

Groups, Families & Children

Each tepee sleeps two guests, making them ideal for couples.

Groups and families are welcome to book all three tepees, with space for up to six guests. Please contact us beforehand so we can help coordinate your stay.

 

Pets

We’re dog-friendly on request.

Please contact us before booking. We have our own friendly dog and cat onsite, and can usually welcome one dog per stay once we’ve confirmed that the arrangement will work.

 

Quiet Hours & Visitor Policy

Quiet hours are from 10 PM to help keep things peaceful for our guests, neighbours and family.

For everyone’s comfort and safety, only registered guests are permitted on the property. Visitors are not permitted unless arranged with us in advance.

Fire Safety & Smoking

Smoking and vaping aren’t allowed inside the tepees.

Outdoor ashtrays are available on request.

During dry summer months, fire bans may be in place. We’ll advise guests if this affects your stay.

 

Weather & Cancellations

Our tepees are designed to stay dry and comfortable in normal conditions. In extreme weather, we may need to postpone or cancel a booking.

If this happens, we’ll contact you promptly to discuss the available options.

 

What to Bring

We recommend packing:

• Warm layers, even in summer

• Sturdy shoes for the gravel path

• A flashlight or headlamp

• Insect repellent

• A raincoat or umbrella if showers are forecast

• An extra blanket if you feel the cold

 

Lost Property & Liability

We can’t accept responsibility for lost or stolen items.

Found items are kept for 7 days before being donated or disposed of.

We take care to make your stay comfortable, but Tepee Matakana cannot accept responsibility for loss, damage or personal injury during your visit.
